Abu Yusuf Tawfique Chowdhury was born in Bangladesh. He spent most of his childhood in Saudi Arabia before moving to Australia where he now resides. He graduated from high school earning the academic prize for excellence, attaining the third highest rank in Australia. He then went on to study at the University of Madinah, where he graduated in Arabic and Shariah with distinction. He is currently completing his studies in medicine at Brisbane University.
